“BESTIES/FAVES is an exhibition of my best friends from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design who also happen to be some of my favorite artists,” says curator and host Sarah Alice Moran. “We drank too much coffee, and made peanut butter sandwiches every day: they are the most trusted eyes and opinions of my studio practice. When grad school ended our studios were no longer shouting distance from each other -- and we were damned to sit in a room by ourselves for hours, then days, to make work with no one to distract us but ourselves and our day jobs. My goal in having this show is purely selfish: I miss my friends, their work, and their opinions. I want to bring everyone together again for a show that demonstrates how our work is connected through such a critical time in our collective art making process.”

Sarah Lubin, Laurel McMechan, Sarah Alice Moran and Elizabeth Thach employ different artistic strategies and media including painting, drawing and sculptural installation. Collectively they share a preoccupation with addressing the complex nature of individual contemporary experiences: relationships among groups, between individuals, and within oneself, as well as the underlying currents that spur creative expression.
